Curacao Gaming License: The Ideal Solution for Startups

online gaming license eu

online gaming license eu - win

Hi, I run a Game Center and all the accounts that customers logged on my PCs are banned.

Final Edit: As of yesterday, all the banned battle.net accounts of my customers are re-opened and the ban on their WoW is lifted. I delayed this final edit since not all the accounts were unbanned at once, first the US accounts, then the EUs.

I want to thank everyone who weighed in to help my case through this forum or outside of it. For all suggestions, all the shared experiences, all the constructive criticisms, and all them upvotes. You people are one of a kind.
How the accounts got unbanned? I'm 99% sure it was the work of Kalviery**, he/she contacted me a couple of hours after the post and starting getting some conversations going through his side. I'll confirm this later, but kinda positive Kalviery rode in like the cavalry and saved the day.*\*
The last thing it remains for me to do to fully open up again is to figure out what triggered the ban and try to figure out a way to fix it.
===============================================================================
Original post :
G'day Reddit!
I don't usually post here, my problems are usually simple and are solved by an online search. I'm having a problem I would like to ask for some help with it.
•So here is the story :
I run a Gaming Center and most of my customers play World of Warcraft here, for a long while now, Mostly classic, a few play retail.
Three days ago, a huge wave of password reset and Battle.net account banned happened here all at the same time. You can imagine the outrage of the customers.
At first, we all thought it's a connection problem, but after a few logins, we realized around 13 battle.net accounts had been banned (yes the battle.net account, not the WoW account), almost all the other account had received password resets from blizzard for the following reason:
"Action(s) Taken: Account ClosureRecent activity shows your account may be compromised. We disabled this account to protect your privacy and prevent further damage."
All the accounts received this notification, somewhere banned, some just pass resets. Among the remaining accounts, some of them continued to get password resets again even after password changes, and the rest also got battle.net banned.
•What we did :
We started making tickets and cleaning the systems (The initial assumption was that there is a worm or trojan on the network). It became obvious after a few tickets and live chats that the Blizzard AntiHack team has initiated the Closures and Passresets, and our cases got bumped up to them ( Seemingly they are an individual office working above the GM team in the rank hierarchy.)
So far I have received only one reply back from the GM team (which are relaying the anti-hack team respond), as follows: Your ticket has received the following response:
"Hello. Goood evening
After a review we could confirm that the penalty applied to the account was correct and as such it will not be modified. We can anticipate that this is not the answer you wished for and understand that you may still have concerns regarding the action applied to your account and the process behind it. As such we would like to add that:
1) this action was taken to address a violation of the Terms of Use http://eu.blizzard.com/en-gb/company/legal/, which all players accept before logging into the game, and in accordance with it.
2) An unauthorized third party program is defined as any third-party software (including Add ons) that facilitates cheating; intercepts, mines or collects information from the game database; or allows modifying automation or hacking of the game interface, environment, or experience in any way not expressly authorized by Blizzard Entertainment.3) As there are no mitigating circumstances in your case, the suspension will not be overturned.4) we are not obliged to give any warnings, and the violation warrants a penalty up to immediate account closure. Given the above mentioned we now consider this matter closed and would not look to enter into further discussion on the subject. As there is no purpose in making further appeals, tickets concerning this issue may be closed without a response.
Finally, We would also like to state that We’re committed to providing an equal and fair playing field for everyone in World of Warcraft and will continue to take action against those found in violation of our Terms of Use.
Regards,
English Game Master Team."
Between me and the community, I have never let anyone run any bot/automated addon or any software whatsoever on the PCs here at my Gamecenter. (Customers run through a Smartlaunch-type program and don't have access to the drives or even windows) But well someone got through 9month ago, and well his account got banned nevertheless.
Clearly, I have asked what exactly has been done wrong, what kind of third party software, etc. etc. Which I am not getting any reply to since the matter is considered close according to the GM Team.
The corona break out has hit my business pretty hard, but this... this has literally killed it for the past three days, and until I don't figure out the reason for closures, my customers won't possibly trust this network again.
TL;DR: I run a game center with customers that mainly play WoW, and all of their accounts have been affected severely recently, I cannot get a solid answer from GM Support.

Update 1: I would like to add that Iran is not banned from playing the game (I mentioned that my game center is located geographically in Iran, and now the post is getting buried under a wrong assumption that Iran IPs are banned).
These are my own latest connections to Blizzard's different servers. As you can see I am able to log in from an Iranian IP. So no that is not the problem.
We get support all over the US/EU and OCN, I must admit though, connecting through an IR IP to connect to support always is always a concern sadly, as experience has proven. There was a ban back in MoP for Iran IPs (Probably around 2012) but it was lifted sometime before WoD.
Update 2: Thanks to everyone that has tried to help so far. This has caught some eyes from Blizzard Customer Support has taken the time to go through this thread. <3 for all the help and constructive criticisms so far.
Update 3: October 26th, Today, all of the bans from Battle.net accounts were lifted BUT not the WoW licenses. I'm not sure what this means but I guess least of all it shows something is in progress. Or maybe it's all automated, Anyone knows what this could imply?

PROGRAMMING NOTE: Sorry it's late y'all. Real life job duties and whatnot. So sure, let's see what kinda numbers a mid-afternoon Rewind does, why the hell not? Only 5 more to go...

  • Survivor Series is in the books and saw 5 titles change hands and the debut of the Elimination Chamber, the most expensive structure in the history of pro wrestling. The crowd at Madison Square Garden was hot and opinionated. Due to high ticket prices, the show broke the all-time gate record for New York City at over $1.25 million and was the largest non-Wrestlemania gate ever in North America. The show ended with Shawn Michaels, in only his 2nd WWE match in more than four years, winning the world heavyweight title in the Elimination Chamber, last pinning Triple H, who wrestled almost 30 minutes with a serious throat injury that led to him being rushed to the hospital in an ambulance afterward. The injury occurred when RVD came off the top of a chamber pod with a frog splash and landed with his knee on Triple H's throat. Initially, there was fear that Triple H had suffered a crushed larynx. He also suffered an arm injury during the match that hasn't yet been diagnosed. The Elimination Chamber itself cost a legit $500K to build (nearly the same amount WWE spends on its developmental program in a year) and will probably become an annual gimmick in order to justify its cost. Needless to say, in the wake of so many recent layoffs and cutbacks, spending that much money on a cage raised some eyebrows. Anyway, Shawn's victory wasn't well received by a lot of the locker room, as I'm sure you won't be surprised to hear. Triple H's friend comes back and wins the title in only his 2nd match, which will surely lead to more rematches with Triple H, wasn't the most popular decision. Once again, it feels like the Kliq has monopolized the top of the company. But Dave says this was all Vince. Triple H did suggest it (after shooting down losing it to Kane, RVD, and Booker T, all of whom he argued weren't ready) but Vince was the one who was gung-ho about it, and really wanted the big confetti falling feel-good moment to end the show so that's what we got with Shawn. Dave ain't feeling it. It was great for a momentary pop and a feel-good moment, but in the long-run, what does it accomplish? Who does it get over? (Shawn is my favorite wrestler in history, but he loses this title back to Triple H a month later and never becomes champion again so I'm kinda with Dave here: this served zero purpose in the long run).
WATCH: RVD drops a 5-star frog knee into Triple H's throat
  • Changing almost every title in the company and putting the Raw title on Shawn Michaels all sorta reeks of panic booking with no long-term plan. Changing all the belts at once makes none of the title changes feel important or special. Los Guerreros won the Smackdown tag titles, which is the 3rd title change in the 28 days these titles have existed. The Cruiserweight and Women's title both changed hands and neither has been built up in any way that matters and changing them on this show felt pointless and would have been better served to add some excitement to the TV shows. The Raw title is now on a guy who doesn't work house shows or even TV matches right now. The Smackdown title is on a guy widely considered to be the laziest wrestler in the company. Those close to Vince McMahon, even those who have known him for decades, are becoming frustrated with his lack of long-term decision making in recent months. Brock Lesnar went into the match with a torn PCL muscle (luckily, it won't require surgery) and a legit broken rib, which they made a storyline out of. Anyway, Lesnar lost the title to Big Show after Heyman turned on Lesnar and cost him the match. Dave hopes it was the right decision. Goldberg was booked as an unbeatable monster in WCW and even though it wasn't a clean loss, Goldberg losing the title pretty much killed his momentum forever after and Dave hopes the same doesn't happen to Lesnar after this.
WATCH: Brock Lesnar vs. Big Show - 2002 Survivor Series
  • Other notes from Survivor Series: D-Von Dudley returned to his original Dudley gimmick in the opening match, dropping the reverend gimmick and reuniting with Bubba Ray. It's for the best, they were going nowhere as singles stars. Opening multi-team tables match was a mess with several big botches. Billy Kidman won the cruiserweight title. Victoria won the women's title. Big Show beat Lesnar for the WWE title in a short match that saw Lesnar, broken rib and all, throw Big Show around the ring like crazy and he's just freakishly strong. Smackdown tag title match was good but still disappointing considering the names involved. Only 3.5 stars. Crowd was really into hating Kurt Angle and Edge. And the Elimination Chamber was 4.25 stars and a hell of a dangerous match. Blood everywhere. Triple H getting his throat crushed. Shawn taking back bumps on the steel. Shawn is still getting his timing back but he's better than he has any right to be after this much time away with that back injury.
  • And then there was Scott Steiner's debut. Dave can't fathom why this wasn't advertised. They announced on TV weeks ago that he was coming to WWE but never once hyped up the fact that he would be debuting at Survivor Series, which seems like the kind of thing that, I dunno, might have added to the buyrate? If they wanted to do it as a surprise, why ever announce the signing on TV? In fact, Steiner's first WWE appearance was technically the night before on the WWE Confidential show which featured an interview with him. So they technically debuted him on the lowest rated show they have. Steiner got a huge reaction from the MSG crowd and WWE made no money from it. Just short-sighted ignorance that Dave can't understand. Steiner beat up Chris Nowinski and Matt Hardy before dropping a loud uncensored "Gimme a fuckin' mic!" before cutting his promo.

  • AJPW's latest big show Wrestle-1, co-promoted by PRIDE and K-1, is in the books and It. Was. Weird. The show was a hodgepodge of AJPW talent and wrestlers/fighters from other places and because of all the negotiations, most of the lineup was unknown until 2 days before the show. One of these instances was a Goldberg vs. Rick Steiner match. AJPW announced it was happening, only for Goldberg to go on his website and say despite what AJPW was claiming, he wasn't going to be there. But then the negotiations continued and he ended up going after all. But at press time, even though the show is over, Goldberg's website never updated the post so most people understandably assumed Goldberg wouldn't be there. Goldberg ended up skipping out on a movie he's filming, and he and Steiner arrived together in Tokyo at 4pm the day of the show. To get through customs and then the 2 hour car ride to Yokohama, there was no way he would have made it on time. As a result, AJPW ended up flying Goldberg and Steiner from Tokyo to Yokohama in a helicopter to get them to the arena. To stall for time, the show started 20 minutes late as fans were still being let in. Goldberg was planned to face a Japanese wrestler on the show (rumored to be Takayama or Hashimoto) but Goldberg didn't want to work their kind of match, so he suggested Rick Steiner, who is his closest friend in the business. So that's what we got.
WATCH: Goldberg vs. Rick Steiner - AJPW 2002
  • Other notes from Wrestle-1: it was the most elaborately produced show ever in Japanese pro wrestling history, lots of special effects and pyro and all that fun shit that is the total opposite of what Giant Baba promoted for so many years. PRIDE fighters like Bob Sapp, Mark Coleman and Kevin Randleman worked matches, along with UFC star Caol Uno, K-1 star Sam Greco, Lucha Libre stars like La Parka and Dos Caras Jr. (Alberto Del Rio in his original gimmick. Not to be confused with his current gimmick of rapist piece of shit), and the usual AJPW wrestlers. Just a total mishmash of everything. Baba gotta be rolling over in his grave man. They announced plans for a Tokyo Dome show in January and they're trying to get Hulk Hogan to work it, perhaps to team with Goldberg. Speaking of, Goldberg beat Steiner with the speajackhammer. So much for saving that for a big Muto match. And Bob Sapp pinned Muto in a non-title match that made headlines in all the papers around Japan.
  • The Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission has decided to adopt and begin enforcing new regulations on pro wrestling. The Commission decreed that the use of barbed wire and light tubes in matches are now banned within the state. Wrestlers are also no longer allowed to fight outside the barricades where the crowd is, especially while bleeding. Speaking of, the Commission also asked all promotions operating within the state to limit excessive blood, so basically, no more blading in half the matches. In case you're wondering where all this comes from, it stems from a recent XPW show where wrestler Angel was bleeding and ended up in the women's bathroom where he bled on the daughter of a local judge, who was at the show. There was also complaints about excessive nudity by promoter Rob Black's wife Lizzie Borden, as well as the use of a weedeater in one of the matches. Needless to say, Philadelphia in particular is known as the city where this kind of wrestling is most popular and this will probably hurt a lot of indie companies in the area, who's entire identities are basically death match shit.
  • Speaking of Philadelphia indies, there's a lot of maneuvering and jockeying for position between ROH, CZW, and XPW and the other smaller ones. Recently, XPW tried to get an exclusive lease on Viking Hall. When ROH heard about this, they signed an exclusive lease with the nearby Murphy Rec Center, figuring that if XPW gets Viking Hall, all the other companies would want to use the Rec Center, so they decided to hurry up and lock it down. CZW is looking at renovating its old building in nearby Sewell, NJ and running exclusively there. CZW had previously left NJ due to that state's Athletic Commission banning garbage matches, and now that Pennsylvania has basically done the same, NJ is back in play as an option.
  • Chyna appeared on The Best Damn Sports Show Period and, among other things, announced that she and Sean Waltman (X-Pac, currently Syxx-Pac in TNA) are engaged. The two have been friends for years, dating back to when Chyna was dating Triple H and Syxx was his close friend. Chyna and Triple H haven't spoken since they broke up when he got caught cheating on her with Stephanie McMahon. Syxx and Triple H reportedly haven't spoken lately either. Not that there was any kind of falling out, just that things are obviously kinda weird and so they've sorta grown apart. Syxx is still technically married to his previous wife, but is in the midst of getting divorced. In between, Syxx also briefly dated Alicia Webb (better known as Ryan Shamrock) and that relationship was said to be pretty tumultuous. Following that break-up, Syxx moved to L.A., where Chyna was already living, and they reconnected while training at Inoki's L.A. dojo. There's been talks of bringing the two of them into NJPW together as a tag team. Elsewhere on the show, they showed a lot of Chyna's recent work in Japan, including highlights of her match with Masahiro Chono. She was there with Antonio Inoki, and they basically tried to spin it as if Chyna was a huge deal in Japan who drew monster crowds and worked with "the biggest star" in Japan, Chono. Needless to say, none of that is true but all of this, coupled with the footage of Chyna and Chono fighting in front of a large Tokyo Dome crowd, sure made it look and sound true to the uninformed (this is a really cool video, like a mini-documentary of Chyna's NJPW run. Highly recommend watching this one).
WATCH: Chyna in NJPW - Best Damn Sports Show Period 2002
  • And speaking of Chyna, Dave reviews tapes of the latest NJPW TV show and he actually gives Chyna some credit here. She's improved a lot with her dojo training and working with these NJPW guys every night. This was right at the end of her tour and he's reviewing a tag match with Chyna and Great Kabuki vs. Masahiro Chono & Tenzan for the IWGP tag titles. The men in NJPW have been working with her just like she was any other man, with stiff offense, and Chyna has learned to take it and give it right back just as hard. Her offense looks good and she definitely carried the workload for her team in the match (kinda sucks that this was essentially the end of her career and drugs took over just as she was getting good. Imagine an alternate reality with a sober, grizzled, world-traveled, strong-style veteran Joanie Laurer as the Minoru Suzuki of women's wrestling in 2020).
  • X-Pac/Syxx-Pac/Waltman, whatever his name is right now....he no-showed this week's TNA PPV. The company started getting worried when no one could get in touch with him and then they learned he never boarded his flight from L.A. Just minutes before the show went on the air, Syxx called Jeff Jarrett and apologized, saying he was laid up from an injury a few nights earlier at an indie show and overslept and didn't wake up until 4:30pm. It's true that he was already working with a messed up hip and foolishly decided to work an indie show figuring he could take it easy, and ended up messing up his back too. He admitted he was totally at fault and he let the company down. He's one of the top 2 or 3 highest paid guys in the company right now and a lot of the other guys obviously feel a bit annoyed by this.
  • News just came out that Scott Hall was again arrested for DUI back in September, pulled over driving on a rim. He refused to submit to a Breathalyzer or any other drug testing and was arrested. This all got plea bargained down to some slightly lesser charge and Hall's license has since been suspended. It should also be noted that when Hall was arrested, his 11 and 7-year old children were at home alone. When police spoke to the kids, 11-year-old Cody said he felt threatened by his father and had a panic attack and began talking about wanting to commit suicide, at which point the child was taken to an involuntary psychiatric unit at the hospital for 5 days. Fuck man.
  • WWE filed a lawsuit against video game maker Acclaim to block the company from distributing any more old video games that Acclaim produced for WWE back in the 90s. WWE claims Acclaim is still selling the old games, despite an agreement to stop whenever they stopped working together back in 1999. This is actually unrelated to the ongoing bickering in bankruptcy court over the rights to the ECW library. Latest on that is that the court ruled in favor of Acclaim but WWE is appealing.
  • Notes from Raw: a weird show with almost no wrestling. Promo after promo after promo, including an awful and forever long Shawn Michaels/Bischoff segment where they joked about the necrophilia angle being bad. They thought it would get a pop. It did not. The Bischoff/Stephanie kiss angle has been completely forgotten and dropped with no explanation. Stacy Keibler came out shilling "I love my testicles" shirts. Scott Steiner cut a promo and if you ever heard any promo he ever cut in WCW, it was the same thing. Just a bunch of nothing and short matches and proooooooooooomos.
  • Notes from Smackdown: Eddie Guerrero vs. Mysterio was a 4.25. star match as Smackdown continues to deliver bangers week after week. Dave thinks Guerrero might be the best current performer in the entire business right now, but because of his size and his years of midcard booking, he fears that Eddie will go down in history as the greatest midcard wrestler ever (thankfully, he was wrong about that). The Al Wilson/Dawn Marie storyline is terrible but word is they still have what they believe are a few great twists and turns left in this story, so they're committed to seeing it through to the end, whatever that may be (yeah, this is gonna go in some interesting directions soon). Dave even thinks the current Big Show push is enjoyable, which he never would have thought possible. The show ended with Brock Lesnar beast-maul murderfuckkilling Big Show around the ring, blasting him with brutal chair shots and throwing him into the stairs, which messed up Show's arm pretty bad. Strong angle to give Lesnar his heat back after losing the title at the PPV. Smackdown was firing on all cylinders during this era, man...
  • Undertaker is gonna be off TV for awhile since his wife is about to give birth and then after she's recovered enough, he's getting elbow surgery.
  • Ultimate Warrior made a post online and talked about Vince McMahon asking him to turn heel in 1992. Warrior didn't go into much detail, but fear not, Dave has the story. The gist of it is that Vince needed to quell the steroid stories that were going around the media. So the idea was to go with the more normal looking Bret Hart as the champion. And since Warrior was a neon billboard for steroids, but Vince didn't want to get rid of him, he proposed turning Warrior heel. That way, he wouldn't be idolized by a bunch of little kids, they could change his look and if he wasn't the champion, maybe the press would focus more on the normal looking guy in the pink as the face of the company and it wouldn't be such a big story. I guess that's the idea? Anyway, the problem was Warrior would feud with Hart for the title and he would have to put Hart over at all the house shows and eventually on PPV. Warrior wasn't going for that shit so it never happened. Warrior ended up getting fired a few weeks later for unrelated reasons.
NEXT WEDNESDAY: Ken Shamrock vs. Tito Ortiz UFC fallout, lots of interesting news from Linda McMahon quarterly investors call, more World Wildlife Fund lawsuit drama, Vince Russo returns to TNA, and more...

FAQ/ General Info [1/2/2021]

FAQ v2 : The "2021 Vision" Edition

DISCLAIMER: this post is NOT meant to be a comprehensive guide. We have linked to many of the best guides available for that. If you have found this SubReddit, you should already have some grasp of what to do. This post is here as a small primer, a refresher for things that should already be known before making comments or posts here, as well as to compile the many resources we have at our disposal. The main focus of this sub will be - content, tools, and news on piracy, hacking, and such. We will provide MINIMAL support on how to get you there outside of this post. There are other Subs and Discords dedicated to helping you do all the hack stuff, most won't help with piracy. So, please look there first if it isn't directly related to piracy.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Before you hack :
NOTICE - Before doing any hacking whatsoever, get Hekate and make a NAND backup. The process is easy, and is outlined in almost every CFW guide. Do NOT skip this.
NOTICE - Also set up Incognito (before doing anything after hacking) and/or 90DNS (before hacking), to block all access to Nintendo's servers. It is preferred to use Incognito, though.
FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION - It is also a good idea to set up a EU region Nintendo account, so you can use local multiplayer (and some other features that games lock behind an account), as well as taking advantage of the GDPR account protections. To enjoy the GDPR protections:
  1. Go to https://accounts.nintendo.com/setting
  2. Login with your NNID.
  3. Under ‘Other settings’, Edit ‘Usage information’ and set it to ‘Don’t share’.
  4. Save your changes.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
UnderPack and AtmosPack info :
The official UnderPrivlidged Website is up and running, hosting the download for the latest UnderPack as well. The UnderPack is just a shop app (Tinfoil with custom repos) and fusee-primary sigpatches. The AtmosPack is a compilation of apps, patches, settings, themes, and more, to take your CFW enabled Switch to a state of piracy nirvana. You will need an internet connection on your Switch to use the shop app, though.
The basics of the AtmosPack:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
F.A.Q. :
You need custom firmware (CFW). At the moment, there are 2 options capable of "backup” loading: Atmosphere (easiest to just grab my UnderAtmos pack, which includes Atmosphere, sigpatches, and more) which is free, or SXOS which costs around $25 USD.
On top of that you need a way of launching the CFW payload to your Switch every time your Switch dies or you properly turn it off. The SX-Pro is a dongle which comes with the SXOS license and launches payloads. There are other dongles, most of which are cheaper but don't come with the SXOS license, though they work with all CFW options. You can also use your Android phone or a computer as well as long as you have the right cables to plug it into your Switch (a usb-c cable is required for the Switch end, with either a standard usb plug for computers, or an adapter for whatever your Android phone has). Payloads are a .bin file typically, and should be on the respective CFWs' websites. My AtmosPack contains payloads for Atmosphere, Hekate, Lockpick, and several other useful tools.
Another necessary part of "backups" is fooling the system into thinking you own the game - SigPatches. These files make the Switch think you are installing a game or app that you actually own. SXOS comes with one version of these patches built in, but for Atmosphere users you will need to grab them yourself. I recommend using these patches (included in both my packs), as they cover everything you would need with Atmosphere. It is as simple as dragging the files to your sd card, so don't worry.
You will also need a way of installing your "backups". You can use Goldleaf, the SX Installer (built into SXOS), or any other number of programs (DZ, Tinfoil, and/or N1dus for example). The process is pretty straightforward with any tool you choose. Though, you could also use my shop in either pack to download and install the games directly from the Switch.
XCI files are physical cartridge dumps. NSP files are eShop digital downloads.NSPs are considered more risky for a ban (doing any kind of hack is a ban risk, take it or leave it), but they don't need to be mounted like XCI files. Only SXOS can mount XCI files, but other CFW can install them like NSP files if need be. XCI mounting refers to tricking the Switch system into thinking a game cart (XCI) is inserted into the cart slot (mounted).
NSZ and XCZ are compressed versions of the aforementioned formats. These can typically only be installed with a few installers, since they are considered "more piracy focused" and some developers refuse to support that. They speed up downloads, and take up less space when storing them outside of the Switch, but installed they take up the same space. This makes them great for shop owners like me, to reduce footprints and make the downloads much quicker for my users.

SXOS supports XCI mounting and USB storage, both of which are not needed for many use cases (and USB storage might be coming to free CFW soon enough). Aside from cost, XCI and USB storage, there is very little different between SXOS and the free CFW options. SXOS users will often say that it is much easier to set up and use, but it is all the same: copy files to sd card, push the payload, and you are good to go. It doesn't get much simpler. SXOS just packages it all together, but then again... so does this post. I don't see me charging you thirty dollars.
For games, updates, and DLC try my UnderPack (contents of the UnderPack are in the AtmosPack as well).
If what you aren't looking for isn't there or you refuse to connect your Switch online, you can try The SwitchNSPs Sub , The SwitchLoader Sub or this post Game Sources (Feb2020). For all else, check the links in this post. It covers most things.
Enjoy your piracy obviously very legal backups.

Where is PoGo-CN? A technical analysis of the challenges created by Chinese mapping laws

Every once in a while, we hear some news of Niantic or the Pokemon Company doing some legal maneuvers in China to facilitate the eventual launch of Pokemon Go there....and yet it hasn't happened in 4 years. So....what's up? This is a post detailing the technical issues surrounding ONE particular aspect of Chinese law --mapping laws-- which in my opinion, create the some of the greatest technical and financial challenges for Niantic.
ATTENTION: Both Chinese law and the politics surrounding China can be touchy subjects. Discussing Chinese politics is NOT the purpose of this post. Instead, I will only discuss ESTABLISHED Chinese law with minimal references to the political implications of said laws. That said, I have only a passing familiarity with Chinese law and I do not claim area expertise in all of the technical details I present here. You have been warned.
Chinese mapping law
In a nutshell, the Chinese government prohibits the publication of geographical data about its territorial land, water, and air. The operant word here is "publish" -- to publish map data means to make it publicly available. That means no unauthorized creation/publishing of maps/map data or geotagging of certain items (notably photos).
In short, any application or venture that tries to create a publicly accessible map of China is going to run into legal trouble (to the tune of heavy fines). Things like OpenStreetMaps (basically, crowdsourced Google maps) and camera makers that geotag photos have run into trouble in the past.
Practically all the basic functions of PoGo break these laws. From the position of spawn points (arbitrarily chosen, but fixed-point locations that are broadcast by Niantic servers to everyone's phones) to the location/photos of PokeStops (again, broadcast by Niantic servers), to the location of the player's avatar (not broadcast, but locally available for all devices and to Niantic themselves), Pokemon Go is one giant exercise in violation of Chinese mapping laws. And of course, the recently launched AR scan feature is a huge no-no.
Obviously, though, it's not like China is completely without maps. There exist a small number of Chinese companies with the authority from the government to create maps of China. So Niantic basically has to collaborate with one of these companies. But before I get into what this collaboration would entail, I'll give a quick primer on how global positioning works.
Fundamentals of global positioning systems
The way positioning systems work is that your device (phone, in this case) is constantly measuring its distance from individual satellites in a constellation (of satellites) orbiting the Earth. These satellites are constantly broadcasting their location in space, which your phone detects and decodes. As long as 3 or more satellites (more is better) are visible to your device, it can figure out its own coordinates on the globe through some fancy math.
When it comes to satellite constellations to use, there are a couple of options. The US has a 32-satellite one for public use, known simply as "GPS" or more archaically as NAVSTAR and is the oldest one, launched in 1978. The former USSR launched their 24-satellite constellation named GLONASS in 1982 and it remains in operation by Russia to this day. China operates a 35-satellite constellation named BeiDou in 2000. And the EU launched their own 30-satellite constellation named GALILEO in 2011. Whichever constellation gets used doesn't really matter here, and it depends on the device being used anyway (since it's the device that chooses which signals to listen to). Actually, some modern ground receivers even use a combination of these constellations for higher fidelity, since all the signals are public-access -- even an amateur programmer can order the right hardware online and work out how to decode the signals.
But generally just figuring out coordinates on a featureless globe isn't very useful -- that's why the second half of positioning systems involves something called a geodetic datum, a standardized set of global reference points. The world standard is the World Geodetic System (established in 1984), WGS-84. By combining the pure coordinates computed from the satellite constellation and the reference points given by WGS-84, you can pinpoint a location on a map relative to nearby landmarks, thereby creating a useable map that actually aligns with satellite images of the Earth. That's basically what you get when you turn on satellite view in Google Maps.
GCJ-02
The key point, though, is that China uses a special geodetic datum compared to the rest of the world -- one called GCJ-02, instead of WGS-84. What's the difference? The difference is that GCJ-02 randomly distorts the WGS-84 reference points by shifting every location within China by a randomly generated distance/direction. Which means, if you try to overlay an undistorted satellite image with GCJ-02 reference points, all the reference points will be slightly off (up to hundreds of meters, actually) with respect to the image.
This is a HUGE problem for Niantic, because it means they have to deal with GCJ-02 or else launch the game in China with wildly incorrect avataspawn/Pokestop placement relative to players' actual physical locations.
Dealing with GCJ-02
Fundamentally, the only issue with GCJ-02 is the positional shift. Take, for example, spawns.
Let's suppose Niantic servers decide to spawn a Pokemon at certain coordinates. That's not a technical difficulty in itself, but the issue arises when the app tries to map those coordinates onto the virtual map. If they generate the coordinates normally, those would correspond to WGS-84 reference points, in which case the spawn may appear in an unusual location...such as in the middle of a lake. That's not even mentioning avatar placement -- you think you have it bad with GPS drift....imagine your avatar ALWAYS being off by 100-700 meters (the actual scale of the GCJ-02 positional shift) from your actual location!
To avoid this, it's easier for them to generate shifted coordinates and then spawn relative to GCJ-02 reference points. But there's yet another catch...the conversion algorithm from WGS-84 coordinates to GCJ-02 coordinates is technically a state secret. Sure, there's actually tons of open-source implementations available, but if they want approval to launch a game like PoGo (which will certainly be in the public eye to an extent), using an illicit open-source library for this purpose....is probably a terrible idea.
Which means Niantic needs to outsource the conversion to one of the licensed companies who own the proprietary conversion code. Which offers Niantic a choice between two options:
  1. Ping the Chinese survey company servers for GCJ-02 coordinates based on the actual location they want to place the spawn, and then have Niantic servers broadcast the actual spawn in China. This is the cheaper option, but would introduce a lot of lag due to the back and forth pinging between two server farms.
  2. Collaborate with the Chinese survey company and set up brand new Niantic servers in China. This is the expensive option, and would amount to the best-performance-case scenario in terms of a China launch.
Not to mention, treating one part of the globe differently from the rest is an endeavor rife with potential bugs. If done poorly (given what we know of Niantic spaghetti code), it could ruin the PoGo experience worldwide. And even if they integrate the China code perfectly, the boundary areas created by the GCJ-02 and WGS-84 zones are still going to be rather awkward. As an example of real-life awkwardness, go take a look at the satellite and map views of the Shenzhen Bay Bridge connecting Hong Kong to mainland China on Google Maps. You'll probably find that the map and satellite disagree on where the bridge actually is -- in fact, the satellite view is probably going to look weirdly chopped up and pasted together. It's not hard to imagine that being an issue of ambiguity for Niantic as well, if they try to spawn Pokemon or place Pokestops anywhere in the entire boundary region surrounding mainland China.
Conclusion
Honestly, I think there's a good chance PoGo-CN will NEVER launch. Merely doing so is a massive financial investment on Niantic's part (not to mention the time and manpower it'll take). There's also little guarantee of any kind of success of the game in China, since there are many other obstacles I omitted here (notably, further laws on user data privacy, restrictions on gambling/freemium gaming, anti-addiction laws, national security laws at large,....the list goes on).

Listen up. Here are the stakes.

Listen up. Here are the stakes.
The right is in a plane headed straight for the ground. All of us. I don’t care if you call yourself centre-right, alt-right, traditionalist, neo-reactionary, reactionary, nationalist, patriot, monarchist, tradcath, whatever.
It doesn’t matter. Some of us are in the front of the plane, some the back. Maybe the tail broke off and will smash into a trillion pieces a few seconds later than the front. But smash it will.
Michael Anton used this analogy when he talked about the 2016 US presidential election: his so-called Flight 93 Election. I think that’s kind of dumb because Trump is not worth storming the cockpit for, but I understand the sentiment and agree with it in a broader sense.
We’re not dealing with a Flight 93 election; we’re dealing with the Flight 93 of Western civilization, and we’re seconds from impact. Maybe I should have gone with a train metaphor…
The point is, we’ve seen for several decades now where things are going, and in the past few years, we’ve seen what happens when the rapidly monopolizing and expanding technology companies that own the internet—and its commerce, information, community and community action—realize they would rather stand with the progressive firing squad than with the soon-to-be-terminated losers who pathetically moan about free speech through the soiled kerchiefs stuffed in their mouths. And Amazon, Google, Facebook and their ilk have brought the rail gun that can literally saw us in half with bullets.
Wait, weren’t we on a plane? Please excuse the mixed analogies. FAANG just set off the IED that’s sending the plane careening downward. The aptness of the plane analogy is that the left is actually on the civilizational plane too. You can’t not be. No one will be safe or happy when the explosion happens, even if it feels fun to go really fast right now.
Many of you will disagree. You are likely partisan Candian Conservatives. “We just had ten years of Stephen Harper,” you will say. “Listen, I too am skeptical that Erin O’Toole can lead us to victory, but once we have the right leader and the right party platform, everything will be okiley dokiley.”
Here’s the thing. Everything we stand for, or everything the left thinks we stand for, is opposed to their precious project of creating a totally atomized, cultureless, scientist, libertine, big government society. They can’t let us win any significant battles, and their power has been consolidating for a century. It is now overwhelming.
You saw what happened during Harper’s last election. Harper and the CCP were slammed as anti-science, anti-Muslim/foreign/non-old-stock-Canadian, in bed with corporations at the expense of the poor, etecetera. You know, the whole progressive playbook.
This has intensified with every passing year. As much dirt along those lines as could be dug up on candidates during the CCP leadership races was dug up, and the digging keeps going so that as many caucus members can be smeared and dismissed as possible.
Any time one of “our” politicians stands on the stage with the wrong person, gets quoted out of context, tweets the wrong opinion, makes a bad leadership decision (or one perceived as bad), etcetera, it gets amplified across the internet through all the progressive feeds: the news media, forums like CanadaPolitics, five million middle-aged, upper-middle-class Liberal supporters’ Facebook pages, etcetera. Meanwhile, failings of NDP or Liberal politicians in the same or even worse ways are rarely commented on, always defended, and often defended by gaslighting people like you into thinking that it really is different when we do it for X, Y and Z reason.
And when I say “our” politicians, they really do all get lumped together. Any supposed failing in Ontario, Alberta or anywhere else there are Conservative politicians is just as bad for the CCP as their own “failings.”
So we are ending up at a point where a majority of the people who are “plugged in” to politics hear how terrible “we” are day in and day out, and the line on our graph of our redeeming qualities is quickly approaching zero in the mind of the general public. With control of our educational, law, bureaucratic, and media systems, and now the tools of the keepers of the keys to the internet, if progressives want us destroyed, we can consider ourselves destroyed.
The one advantage we have in Canada is that our support has become highly concentrated in certain areas, which is actually beneficial in first-past-the-post systems. The Prarie provinces are in their own media bubble and have a rural bias, which is great. But the trend is still towards urbanization, which means white collar jobs and university education, which means progressive indoctrination. And this localized support only helps so much, as we saw last election, when the rest of the population thinks you’re evil.
But there’s a more important problem. Even if we win, we lose.
That certainly doesn’t sound promising. What do I mean by that? SURELY, I jest?
No, this is no joke. The problem is that the typical Canadian Conservative party line is a losing proposition no matter what. Even if we win and implement our grand vision of...neoliberal economics and grumbling about culture changing too fast...our defeat has only been accelerated.
This sad state of affairs is for at least two reasons:
  1. Neoliberal economics (globalization, tax cuts for big business without reigning in public spending severely, free trade, mass immigration to drive growth, etcetera) actually accelerate globohomo, atomization, resentment (which can help the right, but often helps socialists), and the degradation of values and culture. The latter may sound like it has a tenuous connection with neoliberal economics, but the fact is that importing people of foreign cultures creates a lower trust society, accelerating the dissolution of intermediary institutions, charity, neighbourliness, and it also increases unemployment and the size of the underclass, increasing crime, which increases the acceleration of mistrust, etc. This mass importation also requires an ideology of “multi-culturalism,” i.e., an anti-culture that abhors valuing your own history, culture, values, and ethnicity. Leftists think they hate neo-liberalism, but it has done about as good a job smashing the so-called white supremacist patriarchy as Lenin could hope for. Their last project will be to nationalize the big companies after they are done using them to create their one world, one culture, one ethnicity world order.
  2. No matter how liberal (or neo-liberal) Canadian conservatives are willing to go, and no matter how much they will toe the progressive line on cultural issues, they will always be seen as the deplorable resistance to progress. Why choose the guys who are dragging their heels when the Liberals will build high-speed rail to take us there in a jiffy just to stay ahead of the NDP? To make the contrast clearer just in case everyday Canadians get any ideas that taking it slow might be the way to go, progressives will constantly point to social conservatism or any form of traditionalism as fascist neo-Nazi evil, the existence of which is only proof positive that we live in a white supremacist country. If we didn’t, conservatives wouldn’t exist after all, right? And that’s where we’re headed—rapidly, since the “storming” of the Capitol building by a bunch of neckbeards—the progressives and their big tech and big government allies see an opportunity to destroy us. Anyone who can be linked to anything remotely like, similar, or adjacent to any one of those MAGA imbeciles will be annihilated from the face of the Earth. Or at least, the face of the internet and the respectable job market. And when I say “like, similar, or adjacent to,” I mean anyone who believes anything remotely right-wing, agrees with anything Trump or any other Republican has ever said, has used right-wing platforms like Parler, has followed any right-wing media, and in fact, anyone who doesn’t pronounce progressive shibboleths enthusiastically enough. Conservative media, platforms, and even parties are not likely to exist within a few years, in my opinion. The CCP may still be there (or it may rupture yet again), but no actually conservative content will be there. Hell, there’s hardly any now. For that matter, are there even any conservative internet platforms left? I guess Bitchute. Reddit allows some of us to exist here for now, but not much longer I suspect. Especially once they see the based essays I’m going to start dropping in here. Sorry mods!
Nothing I’ve said here is original. Nothing I’m going to say next is original. I’m a hack with no original ideas. But I at least can discern which people out there have the right ideas, and parrot them.
And it seems like too few conservatives are listening to the right voices. Because we keep doing the same shit, and we keep losing. For a century. Maybe even three centuries. When are we going to figure it out? Can you party hacks stop for one second and think about the big picture? It doesn’t matter if you win the next election or the next five elections.
If you don’t have actual right wing values, right wing goals, and the will to execute on those bases, your electoral victories will amount to the left winning in slow motion. Leftism is entropy leading to chaos. You must be strong to organize and maintain order in the face of entropy. Modern conservatives are not strong. We’re weak.
What needs to be done? What can we do?
That’s a whole set of essays. But I will leave some vague starting points without much explanation. Details will be forthcoming. In the meantime, ponder these things. If you’re already working on them, comment below. You can DM me, but I think it would be best if we could all see, encourage, and coordinate each other’s thoughts and activities.
  1. Be worthy. We need high quality elites, and those can only be drawn from a high quality pool of people. We do not have this any longer in the West. At least a century of degeneration has ensured that.
    1. You need to be well-read and well-spoken (or at least reserved and selective when you speak if you can’t be articulate). You need to have a set of coherent values and a worldview with a vision for the future. Not utopian, but not the status quo either. If you are addicted to the degeneracy of the West, as most of us—including myself—are, then you need to gradually wean yourself off the teat of hedonism. That means porn, casual sex, gluttony, drugs, video games (only obsessive playing; nothing inherently wrong with playing some games, especially if you can build a community of like-minded brethren around playing games), sloth, etcetera all need to be curbed if not eliminated. Don’t let anything hold you back from your full potential, and don’t let anyone have any dirt on you, especially when it comes to pornography and sex.
  2. No infighting or purity spiraling. This is a tough one for me. There need to be boundaries (and borders!). I can’t have you liberals or progressive "conservatives" poisoning everything we try to accomplish. But the fact is that the right is smaller than the left, and that disparity is likely to grow in the future, not diminish. We need all the help we can get.
    1. But the left is incredible at getting us to turn against each other, because we want power and the left has power, so we naively try to suck up to them and shun the right-wingers they tell us to shun. This is called appeasement and it is a losing strategy. Buckley started this with National Review, and it has been a spiral ever since. Even I tend to shit on MAGA lads, but we need them too. Sorry guys. Forgive me?
    2. You are only allowed to exist in the public discourse as a conservative if you toe the progressive line on everything except maybe tax policy, but even that door will be closed soon. STOP. THIS. BULLSHIT. We need EVERY. WARM. BODY. Period. Are there enough periods here? …………………. Someone tweets something dumb about residential schools? I don’t care. We need them. Someone says men are men and women are women? A) they are correct and B) even if they weren’t, we need them. Someone is literally an ethnonationalist who wants to expel foreigners from the country? I DO NOT CARE. WE NEED THEM. So please STOP with your bullshit.
    3. A movement that is constantly apologizing and backpedaling and purging its membership is not strong nor is it confident. These two qualities will be necessary in a leader very soon, as the leftist liberal order is going to descend into anarchy and chaos, and people will look for a strong man to lead them. Hell, even a strong woman would be leagues above our substitute drama teacher. The one thing we have going for us is that the progressive left is prone to eating its own. Let’s not imitate that behaviour.
    4. Stop apologizing. Even if we disagree with something one of our members has said, do not apologize for it. Don’t even straightforwardly disagree with it. Simply confidently say what you value and let that speak for itself. Don’t apologize for not adhering to progressive pieties. I cannot stand when conservatives hesitantly and obsequiously stutter in favour of some progressive platitude as they try and beg for some small concession from our civilizational enemies. The left will not give an inch. Neither should you.
  3. Infiltrate. Despite what I said in #2, you yourself should stay squeaky clean. Don’t say dumb shit. Don’t say racist shit. The latter is harder nowadays because denouncing BLM or literally existing as a white person is apparently racist now. Don’t give them that ground, but don’t say obviously racist stuff, whether or not you are secretly an ethnonationalist. This is because we need to infiltrate the institutions. The left already did this, and that is why they are so hard to beat. They are the professors, and bureaucrats, the journalists, the politicians, the human resources managers, the lawyers, the judges, even the damned clergy, everything that is important for controlling the levers of power and public opinion. We must do the same. The problem with this strategy is that we might not be able to beat the left at their own game, and it may be too slow at this point. But hey, if you are in any of these vital positions, want to be in one of them or have the ability to influence others in these positions, do your part to subvert progressive influence and assert traditional values. But only go as far as you can without getting canned. You aren’t infiltrating if you’re jobless.
  4. Create parallel institutions. This is more likely to work in the long-run than infiltration. I am using “institution” in a rather broad sense here. I don’t think starting a new government, new system of law, etcetera, is feasible. But you can start what I like to call intermediary institutions: small scale, unofficial communities of people with shared values who work towards common goods. Think Benedict Option, which is not running for the hills as often thought, but creating strong communities outside liberal culture wherever you are. This may be at your church, but in all likelihood, your church is as corrupted with liberalism as any other institution. Start clubs, charities, groups, gatherings, companies, churches—whatever it takes for you to get people together and participate in some project that either explicitly shares right-wing values, or even better, implicitly lives out right-wing values like stewardship, preservation, charity, appreciation of culture and nature, family values, etcetera.
    1. If there are any computer programmers, web developers, web server experts, etcetera here, let’s build platforms that don’t count on FAANG to operate. This may be next to impossible, but I would like to dream. The problem with using Google is that one day all right-wing content will be purged from Google searches, and even your Google drives (this screed lives in a Google Doc...where’s my typewriter?). You’ll probably be put on a watchlist. AWS will merc your right-wing blog or your social media platform. Your Facebook post that “Diversity is not our strength” will DEFINITELY get you on a watch list. Plus fired from your job. If we’re going to coordinate and communicate beyond in-person, we need our own platforms.
  5. Live a right-wing life. Is this different than #1? Whatever. For now, it is still possible to live a right-wing life. You can practice your religion, more or less. You can marry and raise a family. You can embed yourself in communities and largely ignore the state. Render unto Caesar (or Trudope) what is his, but everything else you do should ignore the state as much as possible. Unless you’re a politician or involved in that realm. In that case, work to make it easier for people to live without state influence in their lives.
    1. Do not live as an atomized, liberal individual. Except for those of a particular vocational calling or disability, we are all called to wed each other and make children, and we are to live humbly for our families and our culture. If you’re just an atomized, liberal individual who indulges in all of the vices that progressives preach are virtues, and you live a lonely existence only for accruing wealth or consuming goods, then you are not living a right-wing life, even if you drop red pills online. That’s the biggest problem with a lot of conservatives today. They lead the liberal lifestyle of degeneracy, even worse than many middle to upper-middle-class progressives, and then talk a big talk about tradition, virtue, culture, etcetera. No one can take such enormous hypocrisy seriously.
    2. Respecting our past and our heritage also means respecting our elders. Take care of your parents if you can, rather than shuttling them off to a home. If they’ve forsaken you, forgive them. If they need your help, help them. Do not resent them if they lived a life more privileged than yours.
  6. Learn to be self-sufficient and local. This is extremely hard and perhaps not even possible for most people who are not already financially independent. But I will set out this ideal anyway, and we can strive for it even if we cannot achieve it. Don’t let perfection be the enemy of the good.
    1. Learn survival skills. You can take courses on these things if you can afford them. If not, all the information is online, and you can invest time into learning them. Start by practicing camping. Work your way up to back country camping. Practice orienteering, foraging, building lean-tos, and so on. Learn to hunt. Buy lots of guns (the ones you’re still allowed to buy anyway!). I don’t think we’ll be driven into the woods and hunted like a rabies-infected dog that just bit a busload of school children, but it’s best to be prepared, because honestly, the left would love us to be driven to such desperate extremes, and they tend to get what they want in the long run. In any case, it may end up that our civilization is doomed to collapse or at least become intolerable to decent right-wing people, and fleeing civilization might by then sound like an appealing option.
    2. In your normal lives where you expect to continue with homeownership, participating in civilization, etcetera, live as local as possible. Support your local businesses no matter what (the ones that are left after the government’s current attempts to destroy them in favour of big-box stores). Start your own local businesses. If you’re surrounded by farms, as much of our most populous areas are (looking at you southern Ontario), buy your food from them as much as possible. Don’t just buy from local businesses, but buy locally-made products where they are available. Where you can’t buy local, at least buy provincial, and if you can’t buy provincial, at least buy national. Some things may have to come from China for now. But you don’t need avocados from Mexico or pears from China. We have pears here. Avocados are healthy and delicious, but unnecessary. Buy things in season, and preserve what you can for the winter.
    3. If you have any quality local architecture or art extant, preserve it to the best of your ability. You may start an organization in your community for this very purpose. People who look back to the beauty of the past and value it are more likely to have right-wing values or see the value in said values, even if only implicitly. I think tradesmen and DIY culture can actually help the right-wing even more than politicians or lawyers. If we can build, preserve, maintain, restore and protect our own and what we value without the help of liberal institutions, then we are well on our way to creating a parallel society. And once people see that our glass of water is clear and crystal cool, they may dump their cup of muddy, microbial liberal soup down the drain.
    4. Speaking of tradesmen, if you have the skills and resources to put towards preserving historical crafts and craftsmanship, please do. If there are any contractors or other construction/renovation tradesmen here, please do not destroy beautiful old houses whenever possible. They can be preserved, and they are superior to most new construction, especially cheap, slapped together subdivisions. Not to mention it is wasteful to replace perfectly good embodied carbon with new materials.
  7. Instill all of the above in your children. This is perhaps the most important thing we can do. Instill right-wing values in your children.
    1. Teach them to appreciate their past, our cultural past, and the extant physical heritage that needs to be preserved. They should be more learned, more capable, more communitarian, and more virtuous than you. The next generation needs to be smart, strong, purposeful and united. They do not have an easy fight ahead of them. Neither do we, for all of the toxic progressive institutions that permeate our society want to own our children. We must not let them.
    2. The most continual source of propaganda and degradation is education. All of it: from kindergarten to graduate studies. If you can, enroll your children in private Christian schools. Not necessarily because they’ll get better grades or be smarter than those educated in public school. Do it solely because your children need to be inculcated with strong values and protected from the nefarious influence of progressivism as long as possible. I went to private school for only about five years as a kid, and it was super important. I fell into the progressive fold for a while in university, but I had an internal seed planted that was able to later sprout again. If you can swing private school or homeschooling that inculcates unshakeable values until grade twelve, that would be ideal. Then, when it comes time for tertiary education (if necessary), look for private, not-for-profit trade schools that are designed to train your children in a specific set of useful skills. Two exemplary institutions of the kind I have in mind are the Stratford Chefs School and, the holy of holies, Willowbank School of Restoration Arts. I’m sure there are many more such schools in Ontario and across the country. These institutions are not explicitly right-wing. In fact, the Chefs School has something inherently cosmopolitan about it. However, the valuing of excellence in craftsmanship and particularity of tradition over egalitarianism and “thinking the right things” is inherently a right-wing position. Willowbank, in particular, engenders an appreciation of and the actual skills to maintain our physical cultural heritage. If you are one of those types who are very well connected and able to throw fundraisers and the like (I will never understand this breed of people. I can never be one of them), then maybe you should start one of these trade schools.
    3. If your child is going into STEM, there is probably no getting away from liberalism, so you must prepare them intellectually and psychologically for this. If you believe STEM is inoculated against the raving lunatics in the Humanities or Social Sciences, your information is about five or ten years out of date. Longer, if you really look carefully. Certain avenues of scientific pursuit have been forbidden for some decades now. Affirmative action has been in effect in Canadian universities since the ‘90s. But certainly, the overwhelming infiltration of diversity and egalitarian nonsense into STEM has escalated dramatically over the past ten years. Nowhere is safe. If your child wants to go into the lunatic Humanities, honestly, let them. But you must very carefully prepare them intellectually and psychologically for what they are going to encounter. Almost everyone they study with and learn from is going to be not only progressive, but extremely, radically progressive. There are actually right-wing professors of Literature, History and Philosophy in Canada, believe it or not. You can probably count them on one hand, but they do exist (for now). At the very least, there are some less crazy ones who are something approximating classical liberals or those weird leftists who are kind of right-wing in terms of their lack of dogmatism, appreciation for the past, and environmentalism. I know because I studied English literature and survived (mostly).
    4. Everything above about being local, knowing survival skills, etcetera, should apply to your children as well.
  8. Keep offline as much as possible. I know this is self-contradictory, but I need to get this message out somehow. Speak with real people as much as possible. As I mentioned above in my paranoid ravings about FAANG, we will soon be purged from the web. Even things you think are private like Google Docs and Facebook messages will be vetted and used to terminate you from the web and your job. If we’re going to exist online at all, it has to be in alternative platforms that are truly anonymous and not at the mercy of Amazon Web Services or any other megacorp. No sending in your driver’s license a la Parler. We can use reddit for now, but don’t count on anything existing past tomorrow.
Okay, I’ve rambled on long enough. I’ve given you some starting points. Please feel free to discuss below, and even more importantly, please begin to live lives outside of the progressive, liberal paradigm. I will be following this screed up with explications of each point above if I am not banned from the internet for my wretched bigotry.
If you’re a progressive “conservative” or classical liberal who is just SHOCKED and MORALLY INDIGNANT at anything I have said, please take a few minutes to consider whether or not you would like to be a beautiful loser until you and Western civilization are dead, or if you would actually like things to change in our favour sometime in the next century or two. If the former, good riddance. If the latter, join the New Right Coalition (eh...we need a better name. What are we, NRC, the National Research Council?) and set aside your differences for now. We’ll eat you later, but at least the civilization in which you live will be ordered, virtuous and beautiful instead of chaotic, vicious, and degraded. Your choice.
Below is a starter reading, watching and resource list to help you live outside the progressive bubble without spending time on The Rebel or Fox News. I do not endorse everything said by all of these people/resources, but all have useful elements and perspectives that should at least help open your eyes to the fact that whatever is preached at the CBC or in The Atlantic is not the sum total of possible worldviews.
READING
After Virtue by Alasdair MacIntyre
While it is perhaps not as detailed and robust as one might like, After Virtue is the definitive contemporary rebuke of the liberal Enlightenment and all of its monstrous descendents. It is a pretty quick read too. If you call yourself right-wing in the 21st Century and you haven’t read it, what are you doing?
The Demon in Democracy by Ryszard Legutko
Classic work of anti-liberal-democracy by a Polish professor of philosophy and politician who survived communism and found liberal democracy eerily similar and unpleasant. Read about how we are “coerced to freedom.”
Rob Dreher
An Orthodox Christian and political pundit, famous author of The Benedict Option, which you should read. I don’t agree with everything Rob says, but the more intelligent, educated, and active traditionalist voices we have, the better.
Why Liberalism Failed by Patrick J Deneen
Rob Dreher called this one the most important books of 2018. I’m inclined to agree. The title is pretty self-explanatory. The waters are already well tread if you’ve read the first two items on this list, but it is still a worthwhile read and perhaps an easier introduction to the subject matter if you haven’t read the other two.
Michael Anton
He is one of the few right-wing pundits in America today who sees things clearly and talks sense. You have to be reading him if you’re interested in politics.
Craeft - An Inquiry into the Origins and True Meaning of Traditional Crafts by Alexander Langlands
In this book, Langlands puts his career as an archaeologist to fantastic use and explores what craeft historically meant in our Anglo-Saxon history through the actual practice of traditional crafts. It is a rather meandering book that some (especially the scientifically and technologically minded) may find boring, but I was engrossed. Langlands explores the thoughtfulness, connectedness with nature, environmentally-friendliness, and “philosophy” of these traditional crafts, and what we lost by leaving them behind.
Edward Feser
Blog by a Catholic Philosopher who argues from a very traditional point of view, i.e., natural law, virtue, etcetera. Aristotle and Aquinas would be proud. Frankly, if you’re moral perspective is not based on something from classical antiquity or medieval theology, it’s probably not based on anything at all.
The Worthy House
This right-wing business owner whom we only know as Charles plans to elucidate a political plan of action/way of thinking called Foundationalism through a long series of book reviews that help him clarify his own thoughts. He has no time for democracy, the liberal Enlightenment, or beta males. He would be happy to overthrow the US government and replace it with something out of Viktor Orban’s wet dream. I don’t even remember how I found this guy, but I love him. Readers be warned.
The Political Meaning of Christianity by Glenn Tinder
An interesting read that reconciles Christianity with the political.
American Mind
Very solid outlet with a decent diversity of right-wing opinion, much of it high-quality, from neo-reaction to tradcath. Good read on conservatism by Brad Littlejohn.
First Things
They describe themselves well enough: published by the Institute on Religion and Public Life, an interreligious, nonpartisan research and educational 501(c)(3) organization. The Institute was founded in 1989 by Richard John Neuhaus and his colleagues to confront the ideology of secularism, which insists that the public square must be “naked,” and that faith has no place in shaping the public conversation or in shaping public policy. Great content. Check out this piece called “Eminent Boomers.”
City Journal
A rather classically liberal publication—at most bourgeois conservative—still, it has much higher quality content than any shitlib publication you will come across, and their urban policy generally seems much more reasonable than anything proposed by progressive activists. Theodore Dalrymple is one of this publication’s regular writers, and he is always a pleasure to read, though he had more spice in the past. He doesn’t go far enough, but he helped peel me off of the typical progressive dogmas about the sexual revolution, drugs, low culture, art, architecture, etcetera.
Unqualified Reservations
Good old Curtis Yarvin, aka, Mencius Moldbug, one of the, if not the founder of neo-reaction, and the guy who brought “red pill” to the right. To be honest, his crazy techno-libertarianism almost disqualifies him from this list. However, his idiotic positive proposals are not his primary contribution to rightist thought. His primary value comes in his persistent unraveling of all the myths of liberalism and modernity that we live with today, and his revival of important historical thinkers like Thomas Carlyle. I also find him funny, if long winded. He says he’s not a white nationalist, but he is. But whatever. If you don’t want that slop at the right-wing thought buffet, don’t scoop it onto your plate.
C2C Journal
This is honestly not that much better than The Rebel or Fox News, but there is some higher quality content on here, and I keep my eye out for it. I linked to one such piece above. Canadian outlet. They often recommend good reading in other publications in their emails.
In general, you should read classic literature and history books written before 1945. There is great stuff after 1945, but you need a very solid intellectual basis and strong values to discern the propaganda from the good history.
WATCHING
The Distributist
A YouTube channel by a Traditional Catholic millennial that is supposedly on hiatus even though he keeps producing content. Whether or not you’re a Catholic, this is one of the most thoughtful right-wingers on YouTube. I expect he will be expunged from the web at some point, so catch up on his videos while we can. I recommend “To be ‘right-wing’...”, his series on Magical Words, and The Lies of the Sexual Revolution.
1791L
A now defunct YouTube channel with killer animation and deep analysis. You won’t see more content from these guys, but the stuff that is there is worth watching. I recommend The Zizek, Peterson Pill if you don’t watch anything else. The videos about rap are surprisingly good as well. The New Divide is a good breakdown of conservatism’s current split.
Why Beauty Matters
In case you need a reminder of the importance of beauty, tradition, and preserving and passing down our heritage and culture, Roger Scruton is here to (gently) slap you across the face a few times in this documentary.
This Skeptic Isle
A BBC documentary by Peter Hitchens about how the British elite tricked the public into giving their sovereignty to the EU. Less relevant now, but it is good to hear a full-throated defence of national sovereignty and to see how the elites have consistently overridden and abused public will for decades now.
Why I Hate the Sixties
A good doc featuring Peter Hitchens and many others. It’s about the decline of Britain since the ‘60s. Just as relevant to North America in most ways, though obviously there are important differences.
Endeavour
Somewhat similar to The Distributist, but a bit less piercing in his analysis. Still good overall. A bit more ethno-nationalist than some of you may be comfortable with.
CSLewisDoodle
A surprisingly engaging way to spend time with CS Lewis’ works.
RESOURCES
Vertical Churches
Look at these stunning church/cathedral ceilings and interiors. Revel in the achievements of our forebearers, and wonder why we can’t achieve the same now. We are atomized, hedonistic barbarians living amongst ruins we don’t understand. We have no compelling, transcendent reason to strive for such accomplishment. The first step to overcoming our barbarism is reclaiming our heritage and our appreciation of what has been left for us.
Christian Schools in Canada
Self-explanatory. I like to Ctrl-F for the term “Traditional” as a start. Avoid “Progressive” if possible.
Old House Guy
Do you appreciate traditional aesthetic architectural principles? Do you live in an ugly home? Are you guilty of vandalizing your historic home? Old House Guy is actually a restoration consultant and contractor, but his (free) blog is a decent starting point for those looking to recognize the aesthetic sins of the present, the beauty of historic architecture, and what you can do to restore and preserve beauty in your local world. Read the book Restoring Your Historic House by Scott T. Hanson (and his other work online) for a much more in-depth look at historic styles and how to maintain and restore them. Though he is a homosexual, Scott has a great appreciation of the fact that we are merely stewards of the homes (and cultures, environment, etc.) we “own,” and that these things are handed down to us from past generations, and we should pass them down improved, or at least, undamaged to our heirs.
Survivalist resources
This is a nice collection of Canadian specific survival resources and gatherings.
Signal
The only private messaging app I know that might be trustworthy. I welcome others to inform me of other apps or to inform me how Signal is not actually trustworthy.
This list can and will be updated with more content as I think of it. I would appreciate your contributions.

Trying to get more into simracing, could use some help/advice on a few things

Hey folks, I'm trying to get into simracing properly. Thus far I've mostly jusy played v the AI on various games such as F1 2020 (and all the ones before it), Project Cars (1&2), GT Sport, Forza, etc. I have done some online races (mostly on GT Sport) and would like to get more into simracing, both in terms of doing more online racing (preferably leagues rather than randoms, I imagine) and in terms of playing more realistic sims. Also looking to massively improve my setup at the same time. There's a bunch of things I'm unsure of, and hoping some of you good folks, who all have more experience in this field than I do, can point me in the right direction.

So, firstly, what is and isn't worth bothering with game-wise? There's a bunch currently on offer on Steam:
Wreckfest looks fun, reminds me of Destruction Derby which was probably the first racing game I played (and enjoyed) many, many years ago. But I have no idea if it's actually any good, or how much content it offers either single-player or online.
ACC is one I frequently read/hear good things about, however I also understand it lacks content beyond GT3/4 and is something of a resource hog. How bad is it for these issues? Still worth getting?
rFactor 2 and RaceRoom I don't know a great deal about. From what I can gather they're basically iRacing but less popular. Or am I wide of the mark on that? Are they recommended?
Automobilista 2 I've heard is lacking content currently (beyond Brazilian stuff) but apparently shows a lot of promise for future expansion. But I also hear it's kinda dead online, lacks any single-player career, and has "bouncy" physics on some (but not all?) tracks. What's the verdict here?
And the big one: iRacing... I've been really put off so far by the price model. I guess if I'm really going to get into simracing, I'll probably end up biting the bullet and getting it eventually, but I don't know what it's like as a near-future proposition: How much content is actually included before I would need to make yet further purchases, and how beginner-friendly is it?

So, having covered software, onto wheels and pedals... I'm currently using a Logitech G29 which is fine, I guess, but obviously it's pretty basic and lacks customisation. Mostly, though, I am fed up with Logitech's garbage software. I had a look at Thrustmaster, but apart from their range being a bit confusing, apparently they also have terrible customer support. OK, I'd probably end up getting Fanatec eventually anyway, so may as well skip a step and save some money in the long-run. Turns out I'm a bit confused by fanatec too, so here goes:
What is actually the difference between the CSL Elite, CSL Elite + and the Clubsport V2.5?
What is actually the difference between this CSL Elite and this one? As far as I can tell, it looks like they're charging an extra 100 just for the WRC logo. What am I missing here?
What are the big chunks of metal sticking out the front of the V2.5? Do they serve a purpose (EG clip-on attachments or something) or did the designer just have a stroke?
Pedals: the ones that come in the CSL Elite bundles only have two pedals on. I'll probably just stick to paddle-shifting anyway, so I guess that's not an issue. But both pedals are the same shape, is this an issue at all or will I quickly get used to it?
They also look kind of light and flimsy. Are they heaviesturdier than they look, or should I just get the V3s?
Speaking of which, I'm also confused as the V3s have some pics where all 3 have the same black plastic-looking straight pedals, and other pics where they have nice big metal plates where the accelerator is longer than the other 2. Which is it? Is one an optional extra purchase, or do they come with both and you can just switch between them?

Finally, looking at simrigs. I started out looking at the GT Omega ART but I'm not sure how robust it actually is (I'm a fairly chunky guy) so I started looking at aluminium profile rigs, which are presumably both sturdier and more customisable, and are not much more expensive (in a couple of cases actually cheaper). I've looked at GT Omega, Sim Labs, Simétik, RSR, Motedis and just coming up with something myself loosely based on something one of those brands offer.
I thought about getting the GT1 Evo, which I know is a popular model. The things that stopped me were the fact that there isn't a seat included (and all the seats they have on their site look uncomfortable and seem rather expensive), and a concern about how much sideways movement there might be with the uprights just sort of resting on top of the base, rather than being bolted to the side of it as they are with the P1-X.
I also thought about ordering the GT Omega Prime but was put off by a couple of reviews casting doubt on the rigidity of the pedal tray, and the fact that there appears to be no option to order it with the XL-RS seat (the RS6 doesn't look very comfortable and the RS9 seems to curve round too much for my liking). It's also noticeably pricier than the GT1 Evo.
I also considered the Motedis S-Dream but again have concerns about sideways movement. Also unsure how I'd mount a wheel as there doesn't appear to be a plate for it. And it only comes in the silver which I'm not at all a fan of. Finally, I considered making a custom design based on some combination of these other rigs, but presumably would have trouble getting hold of suitable pre-cut pedal trays, wheel mounts, etc. Also likes look I'd only be able to get it in silver again, and having never built anything with aluminium profile before, having some instructions probably wouldn't hurt.
I know there's a fair bit to digest here, my apologies for the wall of text. If anyone has managed to get through all of that and has any thoughts/advice to share, I'd really appreciate it.

PC for $1000

What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.
What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?
When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ToweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc)
Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?
Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?
Extra info or particulars:
This is a build I have seen in an online video, but the components are from 2019. If it is of any help, here they are (only for an example, they're probably not available anymore):

Buy & Sell / Offers & Requests / Used XMG and SCHENKER laptops

Hi everyone,
due to popular demand, this thread will be able to host your offers and requests for 2nd hand XMG, SCHENKER and TUXEDO laptops.
Offering such a thread is a bit of a slippery slope. Market places like eBay have evolved over years and follow many legal customer protection guidelines. In this thread, we do not have any commercial interest in the buying and selling of 2nd hand products - we merely try to help to connect users with each other under our naïve assumption that people will be fair to each other and not abuse the mutual trust that this platform is based on.
As stated again further down in the Rules, we refer the right to close and remove this thread if we find that it is not working as intended.

Statement on Schenker Technologies GmbH's warranty for 2nd hand customers

Whoever buys a new XMG or SCHENKER laptop has the benefit of at least 2 year warranty period with the manufacturer (that's us). The exact length of the warranty is specified on the original invoice. The details on the warranty can be read here. Here is a key excerpt from our warranty:
The warranty is device-bound and transferable within the warranty period. The person entitled to assert warranty claims under the warranty declaration of Schenker Technologies GmbH is the person entitled to use the product given proof of the date of purchase or delivery by means of the original invoice / the original delivery note and the warranty document.
Technically speaking, you need the original invoice (either from Bestware or one of our commercial resellers) in order to make a warranty claim. But this is only pro-forma, because:
In other words: 2nd hand buyers will be able to continue to use the original device warranty. The warranty period starts with the original invoice date (or rather the date when the original user first received the product, which is usually a couple of days after the invoice date). The warranty period does not reset (i.e. does not start from the beginning) in the case of a resale. For example: if a laptop with 24 months warranty is re-sold after 3 months, it will have 21 months of warranty remaining.
If the warranty is void due to any action stated under the section "EXCLUSIONS" in the warranty agreement, it does not matter whether such actions are caused by the original owner or the 2nd hand owner. Our support and service team will treat every device solely based on the condition of the device itself.
For additional warranty notice regarding DIY thermal repaste, please read this thread.
PRO TIP: if a product's serial number can't be read anymore on the laptop itself, it can still be found on the mainboard - usually nearby or under the memory modules.

Statement on Spare Parts and Keyboards with other languages

2nd hand buyers are always able to request additional spare parts for fair prices from our support team. These include but are not limited to: batteries, power supplies, service covers, RAM, SSDs, screws.
The most critical part will probably be the keyboard: we offer our laptops with up to 25 different keyboard languages. The ideal case would be if the buyer can accept the keyboard language on the device as sold by the seller. When this is not possible, the buyer can later request a replacement keyboard from us. Generally speaking:

Encouragement: Second-hand is OK

Let me add my personal thoughts: I buy a lot of 2nd hand stuff. Most of my camera lenses, my current mobile phone (rooted + LineageOS of course), my first business laptop (refurbished...), most of my paperback books - all 2nd hand. Technology does not get magically worse just because another meatbag™ has unsealed the box or ran some of his software on the device. As long as the device is cleaned, dust is removed from the heatsinks, breadcrumbs between the keycaps removed, the SSD is formatted (removed all partitions), any 2nd hand device is as good as new.
One could also see a second-hand device as something that has gone through an extended burn-in / stress-test period. Most defects on technology occur either within the first few weeks of the products lifetime or they occur long after the warranty period expired. By buying a second-hand laptop in good condition, you are buying a product that has already stood the test of real-world usage during those crucial first few weeks or months. If the original owner has treated the device well (no fall damage, gentle with the hinges and I/O ports, no scratches on the display, no burn marks in the palm rest), I don't see any reason why a second-hand device would be any less valuable (minus a few percentage points for the warranty that has started to expire) than a brand-new one.
Algorithms used in legal and insurance cases, based on statistics do not agree with my assessment. Check out this example calculator here (select "Laptop PC" in the dropdown menu). When playing around with such calculators, consider who might have influenced the statistics (including court cases) on which such calculators are based on. For example, insurance companies have an interest in playing down the value of used goods so they can minimize the payments they make in case of lost or stolen devices. For example, according to the generalized calculator linked above, a laptop loses 13% of its value after the first month of usage. From what? Was it drained of its Mana while installing Windows Updates and playing Destiny 2?
A better approach: if the second-hand laptop is still available as new, check out the current pricing in our online shop or any reseller and make your own judgement, how much you would deduct from that value for any time period of usage? Keep in mind that any device warranty and our exceptional support and service will be transferred to the new owner, as explained above. Make a fair price and good luck with your bargains!

Credit and Introduction to Rules

The following rules (both General, Additional and Recommendations) have been inspired by the rules of the German Hardwareluxx Market Place. However, it's not a 1:1 carbon copy of those rules. The rules stated below are carefully re-written, selected and sorted for the specific purpose of this thread. Please read them carefully word-for-word!

General Rules

  1. We provide the communication platform (via Reddit) but do not assume any liability for your purchases and sales.
  2. We would like to point out that we are under the assumption that German law applies to this forum and therefore a warranty claim among private individuals also exists for private 2nd hand sales. For more information about the German law, read this article. If the seller or buyer reside in other countries, those respective laws apply as well. However, there is no unified pan-European law for second-hand goods from private individuals (source). Inform yourself about your responsibilities and rights as a private buyer or seller in your country and in the country of the seller.
  3. This thread is only for private buyers/sellers without commercial agenda.
  4. Offers should include all information that is relevant to buyers. More information is better. Please see the section "How your offer should look like" below for details.
  5. Third parties are not allowed to comment on offers unless they have a genuine interest in taking up the offer. In other words: do not badmouth other users just because you think their prices are too high/too low or their config is unreasonable. The judgement on which offer or request is attractive is solely up the the individual buyeseller. Caveat emptor applies.
  6. Bids/offers should be made in the thread and not by PM or Chat. This is to ensure fairness and transparency and avoid last-minute "change of minds". After making your bid/offer in the thread, you can jump to PM or Chat to arrange transaction details (payment method, delivery method).
  7. Binding minimum prices (MP) must be stated in offers. These prices shall be determined by the Seller. Potential customers are not allowed to offers prices that are lower than the minimum price. Exception: If an offer is advertising a Windows license, the seller must clearly indicate whether he intents to give the license key to the 2nd hand buyer. The seller should act with good faith and not use the license key on any other device after the sale. Buyers are free to ask the sellers to take the license key out of their offer for a private, negotiable rebate.
  8. If the seller receives multiple at or above the minimum price (MP) from multiple buyers, the seller can chose which buyer he will sell to at the seller's discretion. The date (who comes first) is not the deciding factor.
  9. Alternatively to Rules 5 to 7, sellers can use 3rd party auction platforms for their offers. For example, they can put up the product page on an auction platform such as eBay and link (advertise) to their auction here in this thread. In such a case, potential buyers can make their offers within the framework of the 3rd party auction platform - they do not have to state their offer publicly in this thread. The question on which buyers makes the deal will be resolved under the rules of the specific 3rd party auction platform. In such a case, this thread will only be used to point to the auction page.
  10. We reserve the right to close or remove this thread at any time if we find that it is not working as intended. We also reserve the right to modify the rules at any given time. Any changes to the rules will be documented in an updated info section below.

Additional Rules

  1. Requests or offers for services or laptops/computers/products from other brands (including from other BTO resellers) are prohibited. Only laptops that are branded XMG, SCHENKER or TUXEDO are allowed here. This includes laptops with the "de-branded" display lid. See the rating label sticker on the bottom of the laptop for brand information. Alternatively, see the original invoice.
  2. Offered articles must be within your own sphere of influence at all times. In other words: do not offer devices that are not in your personal possession.
  3. It is not permitted to offer goods that have been purchased for profit. We reserve the right to delete posts in which new goods are offered on suspicion. In other words: no scalpers.
  4. If you are offering defective items, this must be clearly stated in the post.
  5. Hardware that has been operated outside the specifications provided by the manufacturer is generally excluded from any manufacturer's warranty or guarantee. Offering such hardware in the marketplace with a guarantee is deliberate deception. A purchase contract would thus be contestable at any time and could be revoked.
  6. After a sales has completed, the original offer should not be deleted by the seller. Instead, all posts should be left intact to create a public record. Users who are under the suspicion of editing or removing their content in an abusive manner (to spread confusion, controversy or avoid responsibility) risk to be banned from the sub-reddit.
  7. If an offer or request has expired (changed your mind or already sold), please edit your post with this kind of update: "/edit: offer expired/sold".
  8. Sales of Evaluation Samples (ES) will be removed and the user will be banned from the sub-reddit.
  9. Payment transactions may only be made in currencies recognized by the European Central Bank. In other words: no cryptocurrencies, sorry.
  10. We reserve the right to permanently block users from our sub-reddit who are noticed with blatant violations of these rules.

Recommendations:

  1. Find out about the trading partner before you buy and clarify all questions in advance. The users' Reddit history might be a good starting point.
  2. As these are private sales, the seller can exclude a warranty in advance in his offer. However, this does not exempt him from delivering the goods in the described condition. In the case of private sales there is also no legally prescribed 14-day right of withdrawal (no refund period).
  3. We generally recommend that the goods be sent insured, so that in the event of a dispute the dispatch is documented.
  4. After confirmation of the trade, ask for the complete address and telephone number of your trading partner in addition to the bank details.
  5. If there are delays in processing, this does not necessarily mean the worst. Leave your trading partner a reasonable waiting period and try to contact him. Many things can be clarified much more easily with one call.
  6. If a system comes with Windows pre-installed, buyers are advised that they might want to format the SSD/HDD and reinstall Windows from scratch for security reasons to avoid any risk of leftover (unintentional) malware or computer virus. The same applies to the USB stick containing the device drivers.
  7. For sellers who purchased their laptop originally from a German online shop (such as bestware or other German resellers), you can declare to transfer your "Gewährleistungsanspruch" to the next 2nd hand buyer. This will give the buyer additional legal protection for future warranty cases on top of the manufacturers warranty. Here is a example form for such a declaration.

How your offer should look like

Offers from sellers should include all specifications of the product, including key components and BTO options and keyboard layout/language. Ideally, it should be a line-to-line copy from the original invoice including the Product ID (e.g. XFU15L19 for XMG FUSION 15) and warranty period.
Offers must include the original invoice date, so that buyers can calculate how much warranty is going to be left on the device. Sellers must include information in which country they currently reside (see General Rule 2).
If an offer is advertising a Windows license, the seller must clearly indicate whether he intents to give the license key to the 2nd hand buyer. The seller should act with good faith and not use the license key on any other device after the sale. Buyers are free to ask the sellers to take the license key out of their offer for a private, negotiable rebate.
The offer should also include information about the condition of the device: are protective sheets removed, are there any damages or scratches, is the item in reasonably clean condition? If the laptop has any damages, they should be documented with pictures which are linked in the post.
To make an offer more attractive, the seller should post pictures of the product and all accessories from all angles regardless of its condition.
Any suspicious system behavior such as unexpectedly high temperatures, low battery life, strong coil whine, performance issues, instability, crashes, electrical issues should be documented in the offer. The offer may also state the absence of such issues. Sellers are advised to troubleshoot any technical issues with this thread or by contacting our e-mail support before making any resale offers.
If the original owner has done a DIY thermal repaste or any other mechanical or thermal modifications on the device, this should be stated in the offer as well. This can be a tricky situation because the potential buyer now needs to evaluate remotely whether or not the original owner did a good job with his or her repaste. It is advised that the original owner adds additional benchmark and temperature information to his offer. In the end, the long-term temperatures and performance will be the judge of the quality of such a DIY repaste. Regarding our warranty policy on DIY repaste, see this tread. (tl;dr: if we find during an in-house inspection of a warranty claim that a repaste has done more harm than good, we might void the warranty and respond with a reasonable but "not for free" repair offer.)
The offer should include information about the presence or absence of all accessory items such as user manual, USB stick with drivers, original carton, mousepad, adapters, screws, cleaning cloth and power cable including the connction to the wall socket (Mainland EU, Switzerland and UK have different plugs).
Ideally, the condition of the accessory and carton should also be documented with pictures in the offer.
Offers should include an information whether or not the device will come with a fresh and clean Windows installation, no matter if purchased with our without license key. Buyers are advised that they might want to format the SSD/HDD and reinstall Windows from scratch for security reasons to avoid any risk of leftover (unintentional) malware or computer virus. The same applies to the USB stick containing the device drivers.

How to post and react to an unspecific "looking for" request

If you can't find a suitable offer, maybe you might find a seller by posting a request. Obviously, requests can be more vague than offers. You should include a list of XMG or SCHENKER models that might fall within your interest plus your minimum CPU, GPU, SSD and RAM config and your budget.
If a potential seller finds your request, his or her counter-offer should follow the rules stated above. In other words: offers that are in reaction to a "looking for"-request are in no way treated differently from offers that were originally posted to find a buyer.
Both buyers and sellers are required to do their due dilligence to make the transaction fair and pleasant for everyone involved.

How to use the thread

Pictures can be uploaded and linked from any image hosting service.
Replies can be sorted either by "Hot" or by "New". If you sort by "New", the newest replies will be displayed at the top.
If you have any questions regarding the rules, please send me a PM or a Reddit Chat request. Keep responses to the thread solely for requests, offers and bids.
Alternatives to this thread: According to General Rule #9, you are allowed to link to your offers on 3rd party auction platforms and market places from this thread. Here is a list of placed where you can try to sell your second-hand laptop.
If you posted an offer or request to any such group and if your offer aligns with the guidelines in this thread, feel free to post a link to your offer below. If your offer or request has expired (either because you changed your mind or you already sold), please edit your post with this kind of update: "/edit: offer expired/sold".
If you have additional recommendations (especially ones that are specific to your region) or any other feedback, send me a PM or Reddit Chat request.
